The SOMDIAA Group launched its new QUALITY, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT POLICY across its African sugar production sites in early 2012.
This new three-year QUALITY policy aims at bringing the integrated quality, safety and environment management systems into line with the operations of the various affiliates. The last quality policy dating back to 2007 focused on quality management applied to finished products. There was significant progress as a result. In 2004 the Group had already committed to implementing an ISO 800-certified quality management system.
The 4 pillars of the 2012 Quality Policy are:
1- ISO certification of existing management systems. 2- Compliance of 98% or more across the finished product inventory. 3- Successfully monitoring, controlling and decreasing our main pollution source: waste water with high sugar content. 4- Successfully decreasing the number of work-related incidents.
Our 2012 QUALITY Policy will be implemented in every sugar affiliate within the SOMDIAA Group (CST, SUCAF CI, SUCAF Gabon, SUCAF RCA, SARIS, SOSUCAM).
Requirements have been set high as every affiliate will have to obtain the ISO 9001 certification before December 31, 2015. As it implements this new policy the Group strengthens its voluntary commitment to ensure the safety of its workers, preserve the health of its employees and reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. A first assignment dealing with the implementation of this new Quality, Safety and Environment Policy was recently launched. |
