First sporting event in favor of the SOMDIAA Foundations
On Sunday, September 18, 2011 40 people ran to raise money for the SOMDIAA Foundations and to celebrate the launch of the upcoming blog: www.fondation-somdiaa.com!
A number of SOMDIAA PARIS employees gathered with friends and joined forces to build a team bearing the colors of the SOMDIAA Foundation logos in order to financially support the projects of the SOMDIAA Foundations in Africa. The funding aim was as follows: For each kilometer traveled by the team SOMDIAA SA committed to earmark EUR10.00 to the African foundations. The selected event was the "Course des Chasseurs de Temps" (time hunter race), which was held last Sunday in Vincennes. The 40 runners all wearing a blue and white t-shirt with the SOMDIAA Foundation logo ran a 7, 14 or 21-km race, totaling 560 km! Through this friendly and supportive initiative the CST Foundation will soon be able to implement a literacy project for women in southern Chad by training literacy teachers, paying them a salary and providing equipment to partnering schools. The literacy project will take place in two villages bordering the Compagnie Sucrière The other foundations will be equipped with WATA devices, allowing the production of chlorine through a simple electrolysis system developed by the Antenna Foundation. Field teams are finalizing the testing phases of these devices and are working with local governments to promote this technology to produce drinkable water for drinking and cooking. Let us note that we recorded a 100% participation rate among registered voters and that Miss Olivia Mokola received a prize cup for the 7-km race! A big thank you to all those who raced as part of that supporting effort! ![]() |
